Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated laboratory researcher to assist Draper engineering staff with design and execution of biological and analytical studies to support R&D programs applied to both commercial and government programs.  We are developing novel devices that leverage microfluidics to improve cell transfection methods, devices that will be used to solve current challenges in cell-based therapies.  The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, observant, collaborative and dedicated.  We offer an atmosphere that fosters innovation, individual contributions within a team environment, intellectual freedom and creativity, and an emphasis on career development.

 

  • Develop and perform a variety of molecular, biochemical, cellular, or analytical assays on cellular platforms of various formats
  • Culture and maintain mammalian primary cells and cell lines in standard culture and on novel platforms and substrates
  • Troubleshoot experimental issues
  • Summarize data, interpret results, and format data for reporting via presentation or publication
  • Support lab organization and maintenance, such as sourcing and preparation of reagents and materials, and calibration/maintenance of instrumentation

Qualifications

Education

  • MS in a biology discipline or biomedical engineering, with 3+ years relevant laboratory experience

Experience

  • Research experience with sterile technique and mammalian cell culture including medium preparation, maintenance, and analysis
  • Research experience with gene editing, molecular biology methods (PCR, ELISA) and assay development
  • Experience with vector delivery (viral transduction, transfection, electroporation)
  • Working knowledge of immune cell biology, isolation and manipulation a significant plus
  • Laboratory organizational skills, good presentation and communication skills are required.
  • Experience with microfluidics, laboratory automation (e.g. Labview, Ardino, Python), and statistical analysis a plus
  • This position may require the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance. The primary requirement for a security clearance is US citizenship.
