Responsibilities

Draper is seeking a highly motivated co-op student to assist with development and testing of novel, vacuum field emission microelectronics. Students selected to work at Draper will be expected to work full-time during professional business hours.  Students will be expected to work with multiple senior technical staff members and communicate effectively both orally and in written memos or presentations. The technical responsibilities will vary depending on the project assignment which is tailored to the student skills and the Draper supervisor’s needs at the time the offer is made. 

The student will participate in design and fabrication of MEMS devices, design of test fixtures, testing diode and transistor devices in vacuum, and analyzing data. The student will be trained on clean room procedures, MEMS design practices, vacuum system operation, and analyzing data. The student will be expected to help plan, perform, document, report, and draft a peer reviewed publication under the oversight of a mentor.

Qualifications

Individual must be well organized, responsible and dependable. Enrollment in a four-year physical science or engineering degree program (electrical engineering, materials engineering, or physics major) required. Qualified candidates will possess laboratory skills, strong verbal communication and written skills, and familiarity with data acquisition and processing.

US citizenship or green card required.
